16th-24th April, 2016
Well, even as I write this 3 weeks after our visit to Cornwall, we can honestly say this is and will be one of our favourite destinations on our travels throughout the UK and Europe.
WELCOME TO CORNWALL
Our time here staying at a friends cottage and home was just so lovely, we didn't want to leave. Oskar and Ivy were certain of this as they were in their absolute element surrounded by all sorts of animals to meet, daily opportunities to collect new sticks, a private playground and daily walks through muddy puddles!
PONK AND DONK
A FRIENDLY NEIGH!!!BOUR
MEG, SPOT, HERCULES AND FLY
We stayed with friends (Charley and Charmion), who run Patch Cottages and are about to open an educational Poultry Farm to the public. They had chickens I never knew existed!!
Cam and Charley used to work together during our 2002 London stint and reunited here in Cornwall 14 years later. It was a beautiful moment.
It was so nice around the farm we didn't feel like we needed to venture out really, but when we did we were able to see some more very quaint and picturesque towns and landscapes of Cornwall and fell in love with the surrounding region.
PADSTOW
We discovered that Rick Steins Fish and Chips are the best we've ever eaten!
We found out that carrying a stroller down a rock face to the beach was easier than expected!
PORT ISSAC...(Home of Doc Martin)
BOSCASTLE- A MEDIEVAL FISHING HARBOUR
Oskar counted down the hours to our afternoon walks with Butler and Charley through the local woodland trail.
We discovered the real difference between supermarket free range and farm fresh free range eggs....and tasted our first fresh duck egg!.....which continued every day!
As Cam put it...if he cut himself, yolk would bleed out.
We discovered Clotted cream!!!!!!!!! What makes it clotted cream and why don't we have this back home!? Thanks for the fresh scones Charmion!
Charmion and the kids discovered that too much icing is never enough!
We even picked up some chicks!
The cottage had a perfect mix of original and new features. It was the farm's old horse stable now converted to beautiful guest accommodation next to the main house.
Anyone looking for accommodation in Cornwall we highly recommend a stop for a while at Patch Cottages. https://www.ownersdirect.co.uk/accommodation/p8173551
Oskar and Ivy were also a little bit in love with Charley and Charmion and couldnt wait to say hello to them each day and certainly didn't want to say goodbye when we had to leave.....I think we will be back if they will have us!.....Can we come back please!?
